When I made that phone call, Samantha & I were dating for close to a year. I was working in CMS at NJIT, Samantha was vacationing in Florida with her parents, year 1998’ish. My 1977 Buick LeSabre was near retirement, and I was faced with a choice.
“So, it’s between a Suzuki Samurai and a motorcycle. What do you think?” I asked.
Our recollection of that phone call varies a bit. I remembered a detailed analysis on gas mileage, and cold weather feasibility. Samantha remembers saying if I got a motorcycle, she would not be riding on it.
I went with the Samurai.
From there, we started Spidertrax, got married, moved to Colorado, and are keeping busy with four amazing kids. It’s been a (long) while since we hit the trails like we did back in Jersey, so heading out to Hurricane UT for some off-road fun was a welcome surprise.
Feels like yesterday, and that’s a good thing.
